Chief Flight Instructor

Brett started flying when he was 16 in Long Island, NY where he grew up. Brett moved to Rhode Island 4 years ago and has accumulated over 1,000 hours of flight time including over 400 hours of instruction given.

Currently 21, Brett is one of the most determined and active Pilots in the Rhode Island area with experience flying in the challenging New England weather year round.

In his free time Brett enjoys surfing in Newport and flying to the islands.

Single and Multi Engine Commercial and Single Engine Instructor as well as Advanced Ground Instructor



Jay is a career U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot with over twenty years of aviation experience. He has been teaching pilots throughout much of his career. As a Navy instructor, Jay was awarded the U.S. Navy Instructor Pilot of the Year in 2009.

Jay’s passion for aviation began from the similar style of discovery flight offered here at Newport Aviation and after one flight lesson was an aviator for life. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona where he received his undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Science and FAA certifications to the Single-Engine / Multi-Engine Commercial level.
